Astra and Rogue both look more at home in a modern work wardrobe than a bulky traditional boot. That does not make them the same shoe. The toe options, electrical designations, and fit guidance are different enough to change which one belongs in your cart.
If you are comparing Xena Astra versus Rogue for warehouse, manufacturing, or office-to-floor work, start with the exact requirements of your role. Then decide whether an athletic sneaker profile or a leather shoe profile fits your day better.
Xena Astra versus Rogue at a glance
| Decision | Xena Astra | Xena Rogue |
|---|---|---|
| Shape | Athletic work sneaker | Low-profile, Oxford-inspired leather work shoe |
| Toe options | Composite toe or soft toe, depending on color | Steel toe or soft toe |
| Electrical designation | Black Silver: EH; White Gold and Charcoal Gray: SD35 | EH in Black Pearl and White Gold |
| Puncture resistance | PR listed | PR not listed in current specifications |
| Outsole | SRO: dry, wet, and oily-surface slip resistance listed | Vibram outsole; SRO listed for dry, wet, and oily surfaces |
| Water protection | Water-resistant | Water-resistant |
| Current sizing guidance | True to size; half a size up suggested for wider feet | At least half a size up |
| Selectable Wide width | No separate Wide selector | No separate Wide selector |
Use the current Xena Astra and Xena Rogue pages to select the exact color, toe option, and size. Neither product’s soft toe version has a protective toe cap. A work-shoe designation or electrical rating does not turn a soft toe into impact protection.
Astra’s color choice changes its electrical designation
On Astra, color is a safety-specification choice as well as a style choice. Do not pick a color first and assume it has the same electrical designation as the others.
| Astra color | Electrical designation | Toe choices currently listed at MEM |
|---|---|---|
| Black Silver EH | EH | Composite toe or soft toe |
| White Gold SD | SD35 | Composite toe or soft toe |
| Charcoal Gray SD | SD35 | Composite toe |

EH footwear and SD footwear address different electrical concerns. The correct choice comes from your workplace’s footwear requirements. If you are unsure which is required, get that answer before ordering. Our EH footwear guide gives the basic context, but a general guide does not replace your site’s requirements.
Rogue simplifies that particular comparison: its Black Pearl and White Gold options are both listed as EH. That should not be confused with Astra White Gold, which is SD35.
Choose Astra when these features match the job
Astra is the option to look at first if you want an athletic sneaker silhouette and need a composite toe or a listed PR feature. Xena describes a cushioned midsole and antimicrobial insole; those are construction features, not a promise that it will be the most comfortable shoe for every foot.
For a workplace that requires EH, compare Black Silver in the appropriate toe version. For an SD35 requirement, compare White Gold or Charcoal Gray and confirm the site’s complete footwear instructions. If puncture resistance is part of the specification, Astra explicitly lists PR; Rogue’s current listing does not.
A composite toe can be a useful preference, but the toe material alone does not establish the shoe’s total weight or prove it is suitable for a particular electrical environment. See our steel toe versus composite toe guide for a more detailed comparison.
Choose Rogue when its profile and specifications fit
Rogue is the option to compare when you want the look of a leather work shoe with a lower profile. It can fit a wardrobe built around work pants, cropped trousers, or an office-to-floor role where a sneaker is not your preferred look.
The protective option is steel toe. Both listed colors are EH, and Xena specifies a Vibram outsole with SRO slip resistance. If your job requires PR, do not infer that Rogue has it because Astra does. Each model needs to stand on its own published specifications.

Get the fit decision right before checkout
Xena’s current Astra guidance is true to size, with half a size up suggested for wider feet. The manufacturer notes that Astra’s fit guidance was updated in September 2026. Rogue’s guidance is to order at least half a size up.
That makes copying your size from one model to the other a poor shortcut. Measure both feet, use your normal work socks, and review the current model-specific guidance. A suggested larger size is a starting point, not a guarantee of fit.
Neither model currently has a selectable Wide option in MEM’s catalog. If you already know you need a dedicated wide width, compare women’s wide-fit work footwear before trying to solve a width problem with extra length. During an indoor try-on, check toe clearance, pressure across the forefoot, and heel movement.
What about wet or oily floors?
Both models list SRO slip resistance for dry, wet, and oily surfaces. That does not mean either shoe is slip-proof on every floor or contaminant. Keep tread clean, pay attention to floor conditions, and follow the footwear specification for your workplace.
Both are water-resistant rather than fully waterproof. If the job involves sustained rain, standing water, or regular washdown, choose around that exposure. Our water protection guide explains why those labels should not be used interchangeably.
Frequently asked questions
Which is better: Astra or Rogue?
Astra is the clearer starting point for an athletic profile, a composite toe, or listed PR. Rogue is the leather work-shoe option with a steel toe choice and EH across both listed colors. The better choice is the one that fits your required specifications and your feet.
Does every Astra color have EH protection?
No. Black Silver is EH; White Gold and Charcoal Gray are SD35. Select by the required designation, not just the color.
Does Rogue have a composite toe option?
MEM currently lists Rogue in steel toe and soft toe versions. Astra is the model in this comparison with a composite toe option.
Are the soft toe versions safety toe shoes?
No. Soft toe means there is no protective toe cap. Choose the protective version when impact or compression protection is required.
Are Astra and Rogue available in Wide?
Neither currently has a separate Wide width selector in MEM’s catalog. Check the model’s sizing guidance or compare models with an actual Wide option.
