How to Choose Warehouse Work Gloves

Start with what you handle all day

Warehouse work can mean picking small items, handling hundreds of cartons, breaking down pallets, receiving freight, operating equipment, or moving between all of those jobs in one shift. The best glove is the one that matches the work you actually do rather than simply offering the highest protection rating.

What works best for picking and package handling?

For repetitive cartons, totes and parcel handling, prioritize grip, dexterity and breathability. Lightweight palm-coated gloves can improve control without adding unnecessary bulk. If handheld scanners or touchscreens are part of the job, look for a glove with confirmed touchscreen capability.

When do warehouse workers need cut resistance?

Cut-resistant gloves make more sense when the job includes sharp packaging, damaged pallets, metal edges, strapping, exposed staples or other cut hazards. A higher ANSI cut rating is not automatically better for every warehouse job. Choose protection around the actual hazard while keeping enough dexterity to perform the task safely.

What about loading and heavier freight?

Loading docks, receiving and heavier material handling can put more emphasis on abrasion resistance, durable grip and sometimes impact protection. Leather, reinforced mechanics gloves or heavier coated gloves may be a better fit than a lightweight picking glove.

Comfort matters over a full shift

A glove that becomes hot, stiff or annoying usually ends up being removed. For all-day warehouse use, consider liner weight, breathability, coating coverage, flexibility and fit along with protection. More glove is not always better glove.

The simple rule

For picking and boxes, start with grip and dexterity. Add touchscreen capability when scanners matter. Add cut or impact protection when the job actually creates those hazards. For heavier freight, step up durability rather than automatically choosing the lightest option.
