What ANSI cut rating do I need?

Start with the actual cut hazard rather than automatically choosing the highest rating available. Lower cut levels can make sense when dexterity and light protection are the priorities. Higher ANSI cut levels are intended for more serious cut hazards where protection becomes more important than maximum flexibility.

Is a higher cut rating always better?

No. More cut protection can add weight, thickness, or stiffness depending on the glove construction. A glove that provides more protection than the job requires can make gripping small parts, operating equipment, or handling tools harder.
